Yesterday (10 october 2009), Mr. Eugene Kaspersky, CEO and Co-founder of Kaspersky Labs, came to UGM Jogjakarta to deliver a lecture about Internet Security. This lecture pointed a theme “Taking Responsibility for the Internet”.

In that event, I became the coordinator of student committee. With my campus organization Himakom and the Electronics Instrumentation organization, HMEI, we organized the event with target of attended person = 600. Everything was going well and the target was reached. Thanks to total of 30 students who had contributed in making the event succesfully done. And many thanks to Mr. Reza and Ms. Afia from the lecturer committee.

Unfortunatelly I couldn’t follow the whole lecture from Mr. Eugene, because I had to walked around the venue and checked that everything was in position. And one thing that make me upset was the student commitee were given a ‘blank’ promise from the jakarta commitee. They said that the student a certificate signed I was happy, because I got more experience in organizing and communicating with people.

Here the photos from the event :

I bought a Kaspersky Internet Security license for 1 year. I was questioned by one of my friend, “You are computer science student, but you buy a ‘real’ license anti virus, what do you think? Is it about virus? I know that you use Linux, So.. what is it for?” Because my interest in computer security and networking. The reason i buy the KIS antivirus is to research what is the different between free antivirus such as Avira, AVG, Avast, etc and License antivirus such as Kaspersky.
